Gaming and Direct access grants update

A press release came out from the Ministry on August 24th updating the situation with the currently frozen Gaming and Direct Access grants. The press releases are available on the Arts Alliance website. Many Arts and education groups in BC are going to be coping this fall with much reduced levels of funding. I suspect many of our member groups will also be caught up in this funding crisis. We shall all have a better idea of how this will play out by mid September.

There is a growing list of music schools and other arts organizations that have lost funding. The impact of this will be a loss of programs and higher fees for families and parents for those programs that remain.

There is also some misinformation about funds being restored, but this is only for a few organizations that were on multi-year funding schemes.
